The first time we ran it, there was a loud popping sound at one point right before it reached the correct pressure. We did see a slight amount of steam leaking out the join between the lid. Could this be the reason for this sound or did we do something incorrectly? (we had used Vaseline around the entire edge for this run)

Often this ‘pop’ noise is heard a couple of times as the unit comes up to pressure. This appears to be quite normal. We are trying to find a technical explanation of the mechanism that causes this.

Do you have any video tutorials to accompany the instruction manual to get better visualisation?
In the manual, it mentions lubricating the metal joining and the diagram looks as though it means between the wing nuts but it seems to me it would make more sense for it to go around the whole circumference of the join that the lid will attach to. The diagram is not very clear. Are you able to confirm for me?

The lubrication (steriliser lubricant or petroleum jelly) must be applied at the edge where the bevel of the lid meets the wall, all the way around the tank rim.

During the initial heating when you want the steam to run out for 5 minutes, do you need to have the control valve closed before and let it build to pressure then open it for 5 minutes or can you have the valve open from cold and once steam starts to come out keep it flowing for 5 minutes?
Question by: Mark on 12 Jun 2024, 4:20 am
No, initially just leave the CONTROL VALVE open until steam has been freely flowing out of it for 5 to 7 minutes.

I was wondering if it is possible to add boiling distilled water to the bottom to reduce the time it takes to increase the temp and pressure.
Question by: Mark on 12 Jun 2024, 4:20 am
Yes, the tank can be filled up to the internal line with boiling distilled water, as up to the point that the Control Valve is closed no sterilisation process has yet commenced.
