It also features a supporting rod for precise positioning of an Alpha point source from the chamber's side. A hand-operated vacuum pump with a convenient one-pull mechanism, along with accompanying hose, ensures optimal chamber conditions. The inclusion of a compact squeeze bottle, complete with a chamois filter disc and flexible tubing, provides a safe container for a small amount of radioactive powder.
The base support rod, complemented by a knurled fixing screw, elevates the cloud chamber for improved visibility. The kit thoughtfully includes holders for both absorbers and radioactive sources, the former accompanied by a puffer bottle, hose, and spring clip. Notably, the vacuum pump and support rod for lamp illumination are part of the package, while radioactive sources and illumination lamp are excluded.
It's important to note that Wilson's Cloud Chamber follows the classical pattern where alcohol saturates a pad within the chamber. A vacuum pump, akin to a reversed tire pump, is employed to draw a partial vacuum, super saturating the remaining air with alcohol vapour, thus facilitating the observation of particle trajectories.
