The U-Form Wire Electromagnet for teaching electromagnetics in classrooms. It consists of two coils of copper wire wound around a U-shaped metal frame with an attached armature.
When connected to a power supply, it becomes magnetised, enabling demonstrations of electromagnetic principles. The magnet can pick up metal objects, filter magnetics, and construct pendulums. Its load limit can be tested using the armature.
The magnet is composed of a 9mm diameter soft iron, with two copper wire coils, each measuring 0.7mm in diameter and having 270 turns. It features two 4mm sockets for easy connection to a 4-6 volts DC power source. To operate the magnet, a DC power supply is recommended, with an operational voltage between 4 and 6 volts.
