The Triethanolamine is a colourless to pale yellow, hygroscopic crystal or viscous liquid. It turns brown on exposure to air and light. This chemical has a characteristic slight ammonia-like odour.
This chemical has explosive properties - above flash point, vapour-air mixtures are explosive within flammable limits noted in the safety data sheet (SDS). Slightly flammable in the presence of open flames, sparks and static discharge.
Alternate names for the chemical include Tri(2-hydroxyethyl)amine and 2,2',2'-Trihydroxytriethylamine.
