Potato Dextrose Agarose Powder
Agarose is a refined form of Agar suitable for the Electrophoresis of DNA.
This product is a perfect medium for displaying zygosporangia on your conjugation plate. Phycomyces will grow on Malt Extract Agar but Potato Dextrose Agar provides the best nutrients for zygosporangia development.
- Nutrient growth media for microbiology are only available for sale to educational institutions where satisfactory disposal facilities are in place (Refer AS2243.3)
- To make agar, suspend 39g in 1L of distilled water. While stirring, bring to boil. Boil 3-5 mins. Sterilise by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Allow to cool to 70°C then pour into sterile plates and allow gel to set. Mix well before pouring. Store set plates on their lids (upside down) in the fridge.
