The Geiger Counter & Rate Meter with Geiger-Müller (GM) Tube is a versatile, portable instrument designed to detect and measure high-energy Alpha particles, Beta particles, and Gamma rays.

It supports continuous detection or time-based counting over preset durations of 10 seconds, 60 seconds, or 100 seconds. Ideal for use in laboratories, classrooms, industrial settings, or fieldwork, it offers a reliable tool for studying radioactive emissions.

Measurement Capabilities

This model allows measurement of radiation as count rate per second or per minute. The maximum count rate is 10kHz. An audible ‘click’ corresponding to each detected particle can be enabled or disabled using a press button, providing flexibility for silent or audible operation during experiments or field assessments.

Tube Design & Protection

It includes a built-in Geiger-Müller tube featuring a thin mica window, which is sensitive to a broad spectrum of radiation. The mica window is protected by a durable plastic grille, reducing the risk of mechanical damage during handling and transport.

Power Supply & Battery Backup

Powered by three standard AA batteries, the unit provides up to 100 hours of continuous operation. Use of alkaline batteries can extend this runtime further. A low battery indicator (‘bAtt’) is displayed momentarily when power levels drop, without interrupting measurements. Additionally, the unit features a socket for connection to any standard 240/12V AC or DC plug pack, with no polarity concerns.

Dimensions & Portability

With compact dimensions of 195mm in length, 100mm in width, and 37mm in height, and a weight of just 0.42kg, the instrument is lightweight and highly portable, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
