The Copper (II) Chloride Dihydrate is a solid, green to blue powder or orthorhombic, bipyramidal crystal, deliquescent in moist air, efflorescent in dry air. This chemical is odourless or has a slight odour of hydrochloric acid.
This chemical is not considered to be an explosion hazard but it is slightly explosive in the presence of heat. Containers may explode when heated. When mixed with potassium or sodium, it produces a strong explosion on impact.
Alternate names for the chemical include Copper Chloride and Cupric Chloride.
