Update on Our Australian Made Initiatives
The global health crisis (Covid-19) was an instant shock to supply chains globally and has made the provision of essential medical products increasingly difficult. That’s why bringing manufacturing back to Australia has been one of our core motivators.
The demand for PPE in countries including USA, UK and Europe has dramatically increased the pricing for product here in Australia. Below is a brief update on the products we manufacture in Australia, providing local jobs and a cost-effective product range.
Current Australian Made Products
Below is a listing of the products Westlab are currently manufacturing and our daily output. Production facilities have been set up and we are in full swing. Daily output can (and have been) increased when required for higher volume contracts.
- Reusable Face Shield - 25,000 per day
- Disposable Face Shield - 35,000 per day
- Disinfectant Wipes - 10,000 per day
- Hand Sanitiser Gel - 35,000L per day
- Surface Disinfectant Spray - 25,000 daily
Future Australian Made Products - Gowns
The Westlab team are working on a number of fronts to develop automated production facilities for the below items. With the current ability to manufacture gowns by hand, we feel this is a very slow procedure and the pricing will not work in a post-Covid market.
Westlab have engaged machine engineers to develop a fully automated gown manufacturing facility that will produce a high quality gown (bonded seams), with zero tolerance and the ability to manufacture up to 10 gowns per minute.
- Isolation Gowns, Level 3 & 4 - 15,000 per day
- Sterile Gowns, Level 3 & 4 - 5,000 per day
Supply Chain of Raw Material
A critical aspect of local manufacturing is ensuring you have a very reliable source of raw material to enable no hold ups in the production process. The Supply Chain team at Westlab had a distinct focus on sourcing material locally and we are proud to announce each of our Australian Made products rely on raw material from within Australia.

With Australian Manufacturing, we can 100% guarantee that all our products are produced in safe working conditions and fully compliant facilities, thus achieving long term sustainability.

With no Port congestion or Customs hold ups, the Westlab Team can promise on-time delivery. Prior to a commitment from the client, a dedicated Project Manager will provide a detailed delivery schedule followed by weekly updates. Having full control over the production process enables transparency when it comes to delivery dates and ensures we never over-commit.
