Case Study: Adelaide Botanic High School
Westlab was approached by the South Australian Department for Education to assist with the initial equipment set-up package for its first vertical school, Adelaide Botanic High School, located in Adelaide’s CBD.
The flagship High School has a unique approach to learning with a strong focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) subjects. As a result, the client required laboratory and science equipment that was also innovative, high quality and affordable, which made Westlab the perfect supplier.
Westlab worked closely with the client to identify the science areas and assess the relevant equipment that would enable teachers to deliver effective learning experiences. The result was a detailed equipment and consumables list which could then be used for budgeting and sourcing purposes.
Westlab developed the initial set up package to the client specifications. Some of the items included were:
- Chemicals
- Glassware
- Incubator
- Oven
- Westlab Silicone Range
- Autoclaves
- Analytical Balances
- Hotplates and Stirrers
- Pipettors
- Data Loggers
- Biology accessories
- Other consumables
As a result, the Adelaide Botanic High School received its science equipment and consumables on time and within budget to support its current and future needs.
“In my role as the STEM coordinator of Adelaide Botanic High School, I was given the opportunity to establish our resources from scratch. Being a state-of-the-art school, with brand new facilities I wanted to make sure that our school’s science department felt like the rest of the school. Westlab’s customer service and product range made that possible, they don’t have the typical equipment that every other place has. They are an innovative group that design and make their own products as well which sets them apart from the rest and this is what I am looking for when I am looking for an equipment supplier.”
