The NUL-231 NeuLog Turbidity Logger Sensor gauges turbidity by measuring the reflected light within a tube containing a solution. As the turbidity of the solution increases, more light is reflected and detected by the light sensor, positioned perpendicular to the light source.

Turbidity is measured in Nephelometric Turbidity Units (NTU), and the sensor finds applications in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Earth Science, Environmental Science, Biochemistry, and more. To analyse samples, they are poured into cuvettes, which are then placed inside the turbidity sensor. An infrared light directed at the cuvette is scattered by any suspended particles present in the sample. A photodiode, positioned perpendicular to the light source, generates a readable voltage as scattered photons hit it and free electrons (photoelectrons) are released.

The package includes three plastic cuvettes with lids, and the sensor is pre-calibrated at the factory. With experiment durations ranging from 1 second to 31 days, the NUL-231 NeuLog Turbidity Logger Sensor serves as a versatile tool for a variety of scientific investigations.
