This Digital Refractometer for Sugar is an optical instrument that uses refractive index measurement to determine the percentage Brix (% Brix) of sugar in aqueous solutions.
Designed for ease of use, the instrument requires only a simple one-point calibration with deionised or distilled water. Within seconds, it measures the refractive index of the sample and converts it into % Brix concentration units.
This refractometer employs automatic temperature compensation and follows measurement techniques recommended in the ICUMSA Methods Book, an internationally recognised authority for sugar analysis.
Results are displayed alongside temperature readings in either °C or °F on a large dual-level LCD screen, with additional icons for low power and helpful message codes.
With simple two-button operation and a rapid measurement time of under two seconds, it is designed for fast and accurate results. It requires only 2–3 drops of sample and features an easy-to-clean sealed flint glass prism with a stainless steel sample well.
The IP65-rated enclosure ensures durability in various working environments. The unit automatically shuts off after three minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.
This refractometer is ideal for winemakers, brewers, fruit and vegetable growers, maple syrup producers, and food manufacturers. Its portability and precision make it suitable for both laboratory and field use.
Each unit is supplied with a 9V battery and an instruction manual. It is recommended to retain all packing materials until the instrument is confirmed to be fully functional, as any defective units must be returned in their original packaging.
