The Current Balance Kit does not contain the solenoid pictured.
The Current Balance Kit consists of a balance beam with a sliding weight, pivots, and a pointer, along with a platform that easily attaches to the end cheek of the solenoid. The platform features a slim blade carrying a single turn of the conductor, which skillfully balances on sensitive pivots mounted on two small round support rods.
When current flows through both the solenoid coil and the single turn of the conductor, the magnetic fields interact, causing the blade to deflect. To restore balance, small weights are added to the beam. The weight required for balance serves as a measurement of the force on a conductor carrying current within a magnetic field. This theory lies at the core of how electric motors function, converting electrical energy into mechanical motion.
