This washed and fine sea sand is a high-purity material manufactured by Scharlau in a 500g plastic bottle.

Its chemical identity is CAS 14808-60-7, with EINECS number 238-878-4. This washed sea sand is insoluble in water at 20°C and is suitable for use in laboratory applications as well as in industrial processes.

Applications of Use

Typical uses include the manufacture of glass, ceramics production, enamel creation, and as an antifoaming agent. The granules are naturally white or light brown in colour and are odourless.

Specifications & Physical Properties

The sand has a particle size ranging from approximately 300 to 350 µm. It exhibits very low solubility in hydrochloric acid, with a maximum of 0.2%, and contains chlorides (Cl) at a maximum of 0.015%. Loss on ignition at 800°C does not exceed 0.2%.

The form is granulate, the colour is light brown, and the material is odourless. Its pH value is not applicable, and the substance is non-flammable. Sea sand of this grade serves as a reliable laboratory reagent without any hazardous classification under the Globally Harmonised System (GHS).

Keep solid waste separate in original packaging, and dispose of uncleaned packaging according to official guidelines.
