These extra-strong non-woven filter discs are suitable for sediment testing of milk and cream, scorched particle testing of milk powder, and sediment testing of liquid sugar. Their consistent performance and reliability make them ideal for quality assurance laboratories and dairy processing facilities.

These non-woven sediment discs offer reliable and consistent performance due to their carefully controlled physical properties. They have a basis weight of 2.5 oz/sq.yd minimum, 2.8 oz/sq.yd standard, and 3.0 oz/sq.yd maximum.

Thickness ranges from 17.0mm minimum to 21.0mm maximum, with a standard thickness of 19.0 mm, ensuring structural integrity and compatibility with standard test rigs.

Mechanical Strength

The tensile strength of the discs ensures durability during testing. Dry tensile strength in the machine direction (MD) is 19.8 lbs./in. minimum and 22.0 lbs./in. standard, while the cross direction (CD) is 11.0 lbs./in. minimum and 12.5 lbs./in. standard.

 Wet tensile strength is 6.0 lbs./in. minimum and 7.0 lbs./in. standard in the MD, and 3.0 lbs./in. minimum and 3.5 lbs./in. standard in the CD.

Burst Strength & Absorbency

Burst strength values indicate the disc's ability to resist rupture under pressure, with a dry rating of 32.0 lbs./sq.in. minimum and 36.0 lbs./sq.in. standard. Wet burst strength is 21.0 lbs./sq.in. minimum and 24.0 lbs./sq.in. standard. The absorbency rate is excellent, ranging from 5.0 seconds minimum to a standard of 10.0 seconds when submerged in water.

Filtration Rating

Although the discs do not have a specific micron rating due to their non-woven structure, independent testing indicates a nominal filtration of approximately 25 microns. This meets the USDA requirement for milk filtration, which specifies the retention of particles 75 microns or larger, ensuring the discs are compliant and suitable for milk-related tests.
