This YOUTILITY® Venting Screw Cap is designed for GL45 laboratory bottles - it is manufactured from durable polypropylene with a cyan blue finish.
It features a 0.2µm expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) membrane, allowing automatic sterile gas exchange while maintaining the sterility of the bottle contents. This makes it an ideal solution for autoclaving and safe handling of media, buffer solutions, and other laboratory liquids.
Autoclaving & Pressure Equalisation
During autoclaving, standard screw caps must be loosely tightened to allow steam penetration and prevent pressure build-up up to 400 kPa, which can cause bottle failure. Tightening immediately after autoclaving may create a vacuum as the steam cools, increasing the risk of damage, particularly in larger bottles.
Venting Membrane Technology
The venting membrane integrated into the YOUTILITY screw cap permits safe pressure equalisation during the autoclave cycle, allowing the cap to be fully closed while automatically venting gases. This design ensures the sterility of the contents while providing a secure and reliable closure for laboratory use.

The cap is designed for ease of use, with smooth surfaces and a secure fit onto standard GL45 threaded bottles.
